Dexter Fletcher has replaced Bryan Singer as the director of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury’s biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody”

Bohemian Rhapsody also stars Ben Hardy, Gwilym Lee, Joseph Mazzello, Allen Leech, and Lucy Boynton. There were also rumors of issues between Singer and the film's star, Rami Malek, who is playing Freddie Mercury.

In announcing the shutdown last week, producers Fox, New Regency and Graham King initially said filming was being suspended because of Singer's "unexpected unavailability". In Bryan's absence, cinematographer Thomas Newton Sigel directed on some of the days.

Malek complained to the studio about Singer's unprofessionalism, which included a spat between the two in which the director threw an object. As for the director's credit, that will be a decision for the guild.

Singer was sacked from the project on December 7, after a prolonged absence from the set.

According to another insider, Singer has claimed he is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder because of the tensions on the set.

It is believed that there are about two weeks' worth of shooting left, unless he decides to reshoot scenes, and it remains unknown what the director credit on the final film will be.

Fox has tapped Dexter Fletcher to take over the Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody after firing X-Men director Bryan Singer from the project. Instead, the director says he was terminated because Fox would not let him deal with the grave illness of one of his parents.

"'Bohemian Rhapsody' is a passion project of mine".

Singer denied the reports and said through a lawyer that he had asked for time off to take care of his sick mother, an ongoing situation that also had affected his own health. Unfortunately, the studio was unwilling to accommodate me and terminated my services.
