Stranger Things officially renewed for a third season. Here's what we know so far

'Stranger Things' is coming back for a third season

Creators Matt and Ross Duffer recently talked about the future of the show revealing that season 3 will not be the end of it.

Things are going to get unusual on Netflix for at least one more go-round! We didn't want to box ourselves in for season three.

After messing around with its followers in creating a poll asking if they should make a third season of "Stranger Things", Netflix confirmed a new season was officially in the works.

Immediately after the release of its first season, Stranger Things proved to be a big hit for Netflix.

The streaming service announced the return of the beloved characters from Hawkins, Indiana in a Friday afternoon, December 1 tweet.

A release date for the upcoming third season has not been announced. "Hold on to your nail bats, Season 3 is officially happening".

In both of the first two seasons, the separate friend groups each tried to solve the mysteries on their own and didn't share information with the others or even tell them that they, too, knew about was going on. We expect the popular series will bring in at least a few new names with rad '80s ties.

"We're thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out", Ross said.

It's at this point in the tale I'd normally offer a little exposition as to where things stand heading into Season 3, but I've been slack and haven't seen beyond Episode 5 of Season 2 yet. It's a problem many franchises with young actors face.

Will's "exorcism" of The Mind Flayer's influence on him involved the evil particles being expelled into the real world, so it is possible that the Upside Down could continue to have an influence on Hawkins.
