Crimson Tide's Ridley declares for NFL Draft

AL.com is reporting that Damien Harris is passing on the National Football League and will play for Alabama for his senior season.

Ridley made his announcement less than 48 hours after the Crimson Tide beat Georgia in the national championship game. He finishes his career with the rolling tide with 224 catches, 2,781 yards and 19 touchdowns.

"Having been thoroughly prepared for that next step", he wrote, "I am truly ready".

A precise route runner whom many analysts consider the No. 1 receiver available in this draft class, Ridley caught 20 career touchdowns and was the Crimson Tide's leading receiver in two of his three seasons. Coach Saban, thank you for building winning football teams by turning good players into great ones, and talented boys into successful men with a objective.

In those games he caught 15 passes for 82 yards and a touchdown.

CBSSports.com had Harris ranked as the 35th best prospect in the NFL Draft - a projection just outside of the first round - and as the fifth-best running back.

ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. rates Ridley as the draft's top receiver and the 10th-best player overall in his big board. Ridley (6-foot-1, 190 pounds) may not have the size to be a prototypical No. 1 receiver in an National Football League offense, but everything else about his game suggests that he'll be productive at the next level.
