Knee ligament damage saw Roma sign Aleksandar Kolarov signed on a free transfer from Manchester City and his form is keeping Emerson out of the side.

Also Palmieri's agent confirmed that if talks are successful the deal will be done by the end of the Winter transfer window, and said that both clubs are in contact regarding the transfer.

The Blues have been linked with a number of full backs in the last six months, with the likes of Juventus' Alex Sandro most heavily linked in the summer.

When asked if a move to the Blues is a possibility, Garcia told Calcio Mercato: "Of course yes, absolutely, now the two clubs are talking, we will see if it will be successful".

Emerson is 23-years-old and has been out of favour this season, making just one Serie A appearance.

"Obviously, Emerson would love to play in the Premier League and it would be a dream to work with Conte, as he is among the best coaches in the world".

However, Mediaset Premium claims that Chelsea have also held discussions over a potential move for Dzeko before the month is out, although Roma want to hang on to the player.

The 31-year-old Bosnia global is not the only Roma player on Chelsea's radar, with Brazilian full-back Emerson Palmieri also said to be an option for the Blues, as reported in Metro.

England midfielder Ross Barkley is Chelsea's only January signing to date having joined the Premier League champions from Everton for £15m.
