According to LG, the new UHD projector, called the HU80KA is approximately half the size of a now available 4K projector.
The new LG 4K UHD Projector is capable of projecting a screen of up to 150 inches at 2500 lumens, this is the company's brightest projector to date. The LG 4K projector supports HDR content so that the images appear life-like and realistic. The company promises superb cinematic experiences thanks to its excellent 4K picture quality and portability, enabling users to create a true movie environment in any room of the house. (There's no mention of Dolby Vision, sadly.) The projector can be positioned on the floor, mounted to the wall, or hung from the ceiling, and LG says it'll work great in any of those setups. But for a real cinema experience connecting a soundbar or speakers is probably best and can be done easily via optical, HDMI or even Bluetooth.
Whereas, the 4K UHD projector model HU80KA is a compact device that doesn't look like its peer devices. Well LG has two 7W speakers available for this projector, which will provide some incredible sound. This is because projects take up less space than a TV would, and it can also generally project images and videos larger than a TV, although there will be certain aspects you'll have to sacrifice in the process.
LG says that its the design and build "gives the projector the capability to show flawless images whether it is placed on the ground, mounted on the wall or hanging from the ceiling". As far as content goes, customers won't have any issues finding anything to watch.
Oh, and it runs webOS just like LG's TV lineup so it's got most of the big streaming apps integrated out of the box. LG has also included other connectivity options like USB, Ethernet and HDMI ports.
LG isn't yet sharing the HU80KA's pricing, but that's par for the course with home theater announcements at CES.
The South Korean manufacturer, LG is expanding its reach in CES with a number of products getting ready to be showcased.
