There were some unbelievable books released this past year, by both large and small publishers, but the big two released a solid lineup of great comics.
According to The Wrap, Marvel has hired Jac Schaffer to write the movie. Anne Hathaway was attracted to that one, and soon chose Schaeffer to pen a female-centric update of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels titled Nasty Women (Hathaway and Rebel Wilson are set to star).
As Variety reports, sources say the project is still in its early stages and the film has yet to receive a proper, official greenlight from the studio - but hiring a screenwriter indicates Marvel is seriously pushing for the film to happen. Johansson has been portraying the life of Black Widow since she was featured in the 2010 film, "Iron Man 2". Most recently, she appeared alongside Chris Evans inCaptain America: Civil War, which was released in 2016. Black Widow, in the upcoming film Avengers: Infinity War. Johansson is a movie start to boot, Black Widow has proven one of their most versatile and enduring characters, and the possibility of a standalone film just begs Marvel Studios to put their signature stamp on the spy genre. Perhaps finally developing a solo movie for Black Widow is a way to keep Johansson interested in the role while she continues to appear in other Marvel movies as well. The studio will have its first female-led superhero movie in March 2019 with the release of Captain Marvel, which has the directing team of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck working from a script by Geneva Robertson-Dworet. But no harm in feeling happy for Black Widow fandom.
Further reports also indicate that the seeming decision to have Johansson star in a film about her character comes after the announcement of "Captain Marvel", who will be played by Brie Larson. Thankfully, Marvel is finally - finally! - moving forward with a Black Widow film. Well, she can shoot her gun real good and is fairly good at gymnastics. What do you think of the choice of writer?
