Customers of about 90 utility firms including power, telecom and DTH, can now pay their bills online using Google Tez applications, the company said today. Now the app has gotten support to pay for bills from more than 80 organizations, including national/state electric, gas and water, and TV/internet services, with more to come soon. Well now, Google is making Tez more useful for Indians by adding support for utility bill payments. Google now supports over 80 billers (here's the list) from across the country, and, all the billers you have added can be found on the app's homescreen. Paying for your bills can be made easier with Tez because for one, you don't have to go to any payment center and line up to pay. The new bill pay feature will include major utilities like Reliance Energy, BSES and DishTV, and in total will cover all states and major metros in India. Users can as well search specific billers by name.
Tez has a support of including national and state electricity providers, gas and water, and DTH recharge. First introduced back in September as a new payments app, the service has now received utility bills payments as promised.
Google India now lets the users to pay the bills without charging the transaction fee.
The aim of Google via this entire effort is to save time for users in paying bills. Tez will then ask the user to link account details with the app along with the bill amount.
Tez syncs with the contact list in users' phones, in accordance with their privacy settings. Once a contact is on Tez, users do not have to add beneficiaries or enter bank account number and IFSC codes.
