Snap to Haters of Snapchat Redesign: 'We Hear You'

The new GIF stickers from Giphy's library is rolling out to Snapchat's Android and iOS apps.

Interestingly, Instagram launched this GIF stickers feature last month for the app. Numerous new features, the petition argues, are "useless or defeats the original purposes Snapchat has had for the past years". Although we blame Snapchat for cloning Instagram, these GIFs in stories are only the best thing ever, so we don't exactly mind it so much.

Before this lovely partnership, Snapchat had in-house designed stickers that launched in late 2017. After you take a snap, go to the Stickers button in the toolbar.

Starting from today, you'll be able to select from Giphy's huge range of looping gifs.

You can also scale, rate, and pin these GIFs to videos.

Snap also called out its latest tweak to the redesign, which adds dedicated tabs to the Friends and Discover pages, making it easier to find Stories and Chats. Snapchat had proudly announced this change late previous year, and was hoping that the UI refresh will help it not only retain its users, but help it attract some new ones over. However, CEO Evan Spiegel announced that the redesign of the social media app would not be rolled back.

"While the recent redesign of its flagship app could produce positive long-term benefits, the significant jump in negative app reviews since the redesign was pushed out a few weeks could result in a decline in users and user engagement, which could negatively impact financial results", wrote Citi's Mark May on Tuesday. In a message signed by the Snapchat team and posted as a reply to the petition, the company says it's heard the feedback loud and clear and that it acknowledges how the "new Snapchat has felt uncomfortable for many".
