New entry-level Go Pro Hero camera on sale

GoPro's cheapest Hero yet ditches 4K for a nicer price

When is This New GoPro Hero Available for Purchase?

While the GoPro Hero does look like other cameras in the lineup such as the Hero 6, it's not as capable in the performance department, but that was obvious given that it costs $199. The software has also been simplified to make the camera easier to operate.

According to a new report from TechCrunch, the new camera, simply called the GoPro Hero, costs $200 Dollars and will feature most of the best features of the Hero 5 and Hero 6, at half the cost. But the new Hero has been simplified and abridged to make it easier to use and to bring the price way down. Since it is the same in its size and shape as the other two cameras, it can fit in the same mounts and should work with all the same accessories as well.

The HERO camera features a 2-inch touch display and provides voice control feature for recording and taking photos. While it lacks 4K video capabilities, the Hero can shoots HD video at 1440p and 1080p at up to 60fps and captures 10MP stills.

GoPro is framing the new camera as the ideal addition to your adventures: easy to use, durable, and affordable. This is the cheapest introductory price for a full-featured GoPro camera ever.

Video stabilization provides smoother capture of bumpy experiences. Swiss National Bank owned 0.12% of GoPro worth $1,372,000 at the end of the most recent reporting period. It's designed really as an action camera for people who have never used an action camera before.

In other GoPro news, SVP Sharon S. Zezima sold 14,966 shares of the firm's stock in a transaction that occurred on Friday, February 16th.

The question is whether it will be enough to revive the fortunes of a company that has endured a tough few years. Hopefully, this new, relatively affordable offering will help the company recover from previous losses and pull ahead of its competitors.
