HMD Global launches 5 new Nokia's at MWC 2018

Last year, HMD Global brought back the nostalgia with the announcement of the new Nokia 3310 feature phone.

Mobile phone maker Nokia unveiled five new smartphones at the Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona, Spain, on Sunday. This phone features 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, and a 5.5-inch Quad HD pOLED display that looks absolutely stunning.

While the 8110 looks much like the model Nokia released in 1996, the innards of the new version will feature 4G cellular tech and have the ability to use Google's Assistant app, social media apps and email, according to the company.

The Nokia 8110 4G also has a 2.4-inch QVGA display and a 2-megapixel rear camera.

The Nokia 1 will start selling globally from early April at a price of $85 which roughly translates to Rs 5,550.

HMD Global had a great start with their Nokia line up past year, and it looks like they are keen not to lose any of that momentum. It's made entirely out of plastic - with smooth matte finish that feels good in the hands - and comes with a fairly generic design reminiscent of any other budget phone in the market.

The battery capacity of 1200 mA * h provides within 48 hours of music listening (and up to 9 hours in talk mode). The new Nokia 8810 4G feature phone is take on the legendary original with the same name, and retains the iconic curved slider design.

The phones have complete Android installations thus don't have any needless UI alterations or hidden processes that end up eating all the battery life. The front camera is a 5MP Zeiss shooter, which is a huge drop from the 13MP in the Nokia 8. One of the casualties of the slimness is that there's no 3.5mm audio socket, though you'll get a Type-C to 3.5mm dongle in the retail box.

Each of the new phones comes with a limited number of pre-installed apps so that you'll get more storage space, as well as the latest innovations that help you stay ahead of the game every day.

HMD Global is also continuing efforts to break into the wildly competitive smartphone market with four new Android-based handsets. The self-facing camera is a 5-MP unit, and the main rear camera configuration is the same dual-snapper setup from the 7 Plus. It can also be called as a full-fledged Internet connecting device.
