The Big South champion Highlanders are making their third tournament appearance and first since 2009.

This is Villanova's fourth straight season of 30 or more victories. Kansas was the last program to accomplish this feat from 2010-13.

The Highlanders will take on top-seeded Villanova in the East Regional on Thursday.

The other two First Four games are Wednesday, with Texas Southern and North Carolina Central in the first game followed by Syracuse and Arizona State in the nightcap.

Radford, which is noted for its press and its top-15 defense, has never faced a team like Villanova.

Villanova coach Jay Wright was a bit wary of what could happen when he watched Penn give No. 1 seed Kansas a brief scare earlier in the day.

The Seahawks were going to have to shoot well from three in order to keep the game close, but made just 6-30 from distance. Radford seemed in control at the beginning of the game jumping to an 8-3 lead behind a monster drive and dunk by Ed Polite Jr.

"For our team to hold that group to 61 points is really a testament to the kind of defense we've been playing here at the end of the year", Jones said. In nearly a decade with the Minutemen, Kellog made the dance just once.

The Radford men's basketball team starts the NCAA tournament Tuesday as part of the First Four play in.

Jalen Brunson's 16 points led the six Wildcats who scored in double digits in what was a balanced offensive display.

Mitchell Solomon and Tavarius Shine each added 13 points for Oklahoma State (20-14), a 2 seed, which will play host to the victor of Stanford/BYU in the second round.

St. Bonaventure set a school record with its 26th win.

STREAKERS: Radford has won its last seven games.

In fact, LIU Brooklyn beat the Seahawks, who were probably the best team the Blackbirds faced this season, twice this year. The Highlanders managed a 7-0 run late in the first half but still went into the break trailing 44-23. The Wildcats lost in the first weekend as a 1 or 2 in 2010, 2014, 2015 and 2017. The legendary Villanova coach and future hall of famer, of course, will say all of the right things when it comes to No. 16 Radford. The Wildcats hope to repeat their 2016 year and win the whole NCAA tournament in 2018. Radford is -4 over LIU-Brooklyn in this game on Tuesday. So we knew they're a good team, so they're going to make shots.

"So they were ahead for the majority of the game, and then we brought a different type of energy and that's when we got up", Agosto added.
