A man who was arrested while under the influence of alcohol on suspicion of theft has been accused of punching the arresting officers because he was denied a cigarette while inside the police patrol vehicle. He said the robber - which he described as a white man with a dark beard and a dark hoodie - held an AK-47-type rifle, a police report states.
According to the St. Paul Police Department, a 29-year-old male suspect led officers on a high-speed pursuit through the city before crashing the vehicle.
Authorities said the officers were trying to arrest a man on a probation and parole violation Sunday evening at a north Portage Kwik Trip when the attack took place. "We tried to calm him down and took him to the patrol auto", said a Yemeni policeman, 44.
"The the girl raised an alarm when the youths molested her there and the inhabitants of the neighbouring quarters then informed the Deputy Jail Super Dhanajoy Bhattacharya", the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Dharmanagar, Jyotisman Das Chowdhury, said. "I fell down, he jumped on top of me and started hitting me before he ripped off my uniform", said the officer.
Another individual taken into custody was questioned and released without being charged. The resisting and obstructing charges each carry a fine of $10,000 and nine months in jail, while the four other misdemeanors carry a combined fine of $2,500 and nine months in jail.
