Anudeep Durishetty has topped the Civil Services Exam 2017

Civil Service examinations 2017 result, conducted in the month of June previous year has been declared by the Union Public Service Commission. Sachin Gupta secured the third position. He qualified the examination with Anthropology as his optional subject.

The topper holds a degree in Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics and Instumentation) from BITS Pilani college. The top 25 candidates comprised 17 men and eight women. A graduate in physics from Delhi University, Anu has an MBA from IMT Nagpur. He is now Assistant Commissioner in the Indian Revenue Service. Saumya got ninth rank. Anudeep is the all-India topper.

"It was not an easy journey".

Rai revealed that his son had been preparing for the civil services examination after completing his MTech in mathematics and computing from IIT Delhi in 2016.

Speaking to the media, Anudeep said, "I am really happy to get this result today".

The series of UPSC exams for the 2017 batch begun in June past year.

The civil services examination is conducted annually in three phases - preliminary, main and personality test or interview - to select officers for Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service and Indian Police Service, among other civil services. "I used to study 10-12 hours a day".

Talking about her achievement, an elated Anu said ensuring the safety of women in the country would be her top priority.

Now an assistant commissioner for the revenue department, Anudeep lists the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in that order, as his preferred services. 9,57,590 candidates applied for this examination, out of which 4,56,625 candidates appeared.

180 candidates have been selected for IAS.
