See Apple's new red iPhone 8: How and when to get yours

Apple has officially announced a new, special edition (PRODUCT) RED iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus that will be available later this week.

Unlike previous releases of Apple's (PRODUCT) RED iPhones, the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus ditch the white front in favor of black.

Apart from the handsome RED Special Edition iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, Apple has announced a PRODUCT (RED) iPhone X Leather Folio case too.

Apple today announced iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition, the new generation of iPhone in a red finish.

Apple also introduced a new (PRODUCT) RED iPhone X Leather Folio, which will be available on Tuesday.

The special edition RED variants can be ordered online in select countries such as the US, Canada and Germany from tomorrow (April 10) and in stores from April 13.

In terms of design, the new iPhone 8 variants get a glass enclosure that we saw on the regular iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.

A little more than a year ago, Apple brought out RED iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models, which while no longer sold directly by the company, may be found via other online outlets. Apple never discloses the amount donated per sale, but it says it has contributed over $160 million since the program began. It is possible that these red color iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be available for purchase for only a small period of time.

In terms of hardware, the RED iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are identical to the standard version. The Cupertino-based tech giant is continuing its partnership with Product (RED), an organization that raises awareness and funds to help fights AIDS/HIV in African countries.

As expected, Apple has launched the (PRODUCT) RED editions of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The devices hit stores on Friday. The larger iPhone 8 Plus is still listed at RM4,149 for 64GB and RM4,899 for 256GB.

Apple said on Monday (Apr 9) it will release a red version of its iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
