Ag teacher allegedly drowns raccoons in front of students

A Florida high school teacher is under investigation after being caught on video drowning raccoons with students on Monday.

The student from Dewie Brewton's class, who wished to remain anonymous, told ABC America the raccoons had killed several of the school's chickens.

According to the state Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the killing of any nuisance animal should be carried out using guidelines provided by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).

"Marion County's education standards-in fact, Florida's education standards-do not include activities for the destruction of live animals, nuisance or not", the statement said.

"While law enforcement tells us the teacher may not have done anything illegal, his actions before students are certainly questionable". One of the chickens was killed by a wild predator and they suspected raccoons or a opossum was responsible.

The mother of a student who took photos and video of the incident told WKMG her son came home in tears over what happened to the animals.

The video, which shows cages submerged in trash cans filled with water and student participation, resulted in Dewie Brewton's leave on Tuesday.

Son of Sam, Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer and the Columbine High School shooters are among the infamous criminals who had a history of hurting animals before they went on to target humans. "They should have trapped the animal [s] and had somebody take them and relocate the animals".

Colorado Springs police had to be called to Sierra High School Wednesday after a teacher was knocked to the ground and assaulted by an 18-year-old student who wanted to get a jacket from another student.

The teacher is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. It made me sick to my stomach.

"The raccoons tried to come up for air".

Sign this petition urging Heidi Maier, Superintendent of Marion County Schools, to fire Brewton and never allow him near a classroom again - so no more impressionable students are forced into acts of animal cruelty.

"We would like to say that we are 100% behind our advisor and everything he does for our children/students".

'He has spent late nights, weekends and has provided around the clock support for his club and for his school'.

"We must focus on all of the extremely positive and life changing things that this man has done for the people", the group said. "Raccoons are not cute little furry creatures. They can be rabid and you can be overrun with them in a short time".
