Instagram has quietly started to introduce in-app payments. The sticker feature is not yet made available to the users for development reasons, it will be enabled in the next releases, according to a report by WAbeta Info.

The function has started to pop up for some in the United Kingdom and USA, prompting speculation that it is part of a test run for a future global roll-out.

According to reports, the Instagram payments feature is visible to only select users in the USA and United Kingdom now. Payments have already been popularized among social media users through apps like Messenger and WhatsApp, and now Facebook is apparently testing out a similar feature via Instagram. Many service provider will now partner with Instagram to connect with the users, a restaurant booking app Resy become one of the first to partner under this new update. It has partnered with a limited number of services as of now. According to report, the payments feature is now available for only a few Resy customers, though. Users will also be able to set up authentication PIN for additional security. WhatsApp group video calling will reportedly allow four users to chat simultaneously, Imam added.

WhatsApp recently got the payments feature, however, it is very different from that of Instagram Payments feature.

However, it is worth noting that the scope of payments on Instagram will not be as diverse as applicable on WhatsApp. Even the company spokesperson confirmed it that the feature is live for a set of users. While WhatsApp Payments does a lot more than that. Along with support for in-line video playback, there is also a Picture-in-picture mode which allows users to minimise the video while performing other functions within WhatsApp.

If sources are to be believed, the new application will help an individual make advance payments for services such as booking movie tickets and appointments at salons. All users will need to do is, head to the dedicated Insta page of the particular movie and click on the payments option. WhatsApp recently introduced the feature and is now in testing phase.
