Video: Report suggests vehicle system failures in deadly Tesla Model X crash. Okay, so perhaps Musk's hyperbolic nature is shining through when he's talking about a Tesla flying, but subsequent tweets reveal that the Tesla CEO isn't kidding around when it comes to outfitting a Tesla Roadster with rocket technology. Previous updates to Autopilot were "rightly focused entirely on safety", he said. With V9, we will begin to enable full self-driving features.
Electric cars get a lot of attention, but the electric motorcycle segment has been booming in the shadows for the past several years. It also has the ability to retain its place in a lane.
California, in March said the driver of the vehicle - as in the fatal crash of a Tesla Model S in 2016 - did not have his hands on the vehicle at the time of the crash.
The morning crash in Mountain View on Highway 101 killed the driver, 38-year-old Walter Huang.
Electronic driver aids such as automatic emergency braking, and active lane control constitute what are known as adaptive driver assistance systems (known as ADAS in Europe). It has continued upgrading the operating system using its capability to send out over-the-air, or OTA, updates to its vehicles. The driver followed them until taking his hands off the wheel again. But most experts believe an even more advanced 3D laser technology, known as LIDAR, will also be required, along with hyper-detailed roadmaps.
Tesla has not confirmed nor denied the news, says Fortune, as the company does not comment on Musk's claims, as part of its "general policy".
Tesla's shares were last up 3.3 per cent at $327.93 on Monday after touching a high of $333.
Tesla's version 9 software should arrive in August, CEO Elon Musk said over the weekend.
Tesla has received criticism for how it has promoted the feature.
Musk also mulled possibility of the rocket thrusters helping the vehicle getting some serious air.
"SpaceX option package for new Tesla Roadster will include ~10 small rocket thrusters arranged seamlessly around auto", Musk wrote.
One Twitter user speculated that Tesla would use compressed air in the rocket boosters in order to keep its all-electric promise, and achieve the acceleration improvements touted by Musk. And we think that is enough time for the tech-maverick Elon Musk to figure out how those 10 rockets will blend into the vehicle.
