Warriors ponder 'crazy' title journey ... and the hurdles ahead

Durant, the engine behind the Warriors' offensive juggernaut, averaged 28.8 points, 10.8 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game as his team needed four games to dispose of the LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.

An overpowering Golden State Warriors squad captured its third NBA crown in four seasons on Friday (Saturday in Manila), routing Cleveland 108-85 to complete a sweep in the best-of-seven NBA Finals.

After The Cleveland Cavaliers lost the National Basketball Association finals, LeBron James revealed a hand injury by wearing a brace to a press conference.

Many NBA fans reacted to the announcement and the Cavs' defeat with sympathy for a player who many felt had "carried the team" during the finals.

Resignation is not on Lue's mind, however, and asked in the post-game media conference if he intends to keep coaching, the 41-year-old said: "Yeah, I do". Four years after returning to Cleveland from Miami, James has delivered what he promised: a championship for the city of Cleveland. They overcame an 11-point deficit in Game 1 of this year's NBA Finals and rallied from 13 points down to beat the Cavs in Game 3 on Wednesday.

Wherever he moves, the fans and detractors will no doubt follow. That series, one the Warriors led 3-1, changed when they couldn't finish the job while being presented with serious adversity. "This was the hardest one we've had by far", Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. At the same time though, considering the interactions he's had with some of these players during what could potentially be his last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, it's a bit amusing to think how quickly guys jumped to asking James to join their teams. His passive play was shocking and in the decisive third quarter it was if James was saying "do you see what I have to work with?"

In some ways the Cavaliers never recovered after almost upsetting Golden State on the road in Game 1 of the series. "I think as long as he feels comfortable doing it long term, we want him".

But it was Warriors forward Kevin Durant who was named the finals' Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive year.

As mentioned before James can opt out of his contract and become a free agent this summer. I stayed the course and was able to have a pretty special year, outside of losing in the Finals.

"I just want to congratulate Cleveland on an incredible season", Kerr praised. And I hope that doesn't sound arrogant. "But after a game like that, I'm not in any position to talk about that". "I'm happy to be part of this group".

"LeBron James broke his hand!"
