Light heavyweight titleholder Daniel Cormier, who takes on heavyweight kingpin Stipe Miocic on Saturday's headline fight, tripped while leaving the dais following a press conference and left with a noticeable limp.

At the conclusion of the UFC 226 press conference, Cormier got out of his chair, and tripped over a speaker that had been placed right in his path.

It appears that the UFC has finally dodged a bullet after three straight years of last-minute cancellations for its traditional International Fight Week show.

"I didn't see the speaker and don't know why it was there", Cormier said.

It seems crisis was averted for now, but, if we may leave a suggestion: Perhaps the UFC would want to consider conserving its main and co-main event protagonists in bubble wrap for the next couple of days. Cormier stayed on the ground for a few seconds before getting up. Made it clear to say, "Fight is not in jeopardy" though.

So rest easy, fight fans.

It's definitely good news after UFC 226 already endured another major loss earlier in the week when featherweight champion Max Holloway was forced off the card with concussion like symptoms.
