On Thursday, Build-A-Bear was set to celebrate "Pay Your Age Day" in the US, Canada, and the UK.
The website said local authorities helped them make the decision to close lines in all USA stores.
The company wrote in a Facebook post that it closed lines at its stores in Canada and the USA due to overwhelming crowds and safety concerns. One user, @JohnLuke_PW, joked that he'd spent "41 days" in line. "We are working to address the situation, and we will be reaching out to our valued Guests soon".
Build-A-Bear was forced to shut down a deal that allowed customers to "pay their age" for bears after chaos overtook malls across the United States. The discount applied to any Make-Your-Own bear in U.S., Canada and United Kingdom stores.
"The queues are starting to get so long and the store only has four staff making the bears, so I reckon will be waiting all day".
Unfortunately, stores were completely mobbed by crowds and the company had to start turning away customers.
Build-A-Bear Workshop, which has four Phoenix-area locations, called off the promotion in North America before 9 a.m. Arizona time.
