Local daily La Nuova Sardegna reports Clooney's injuries aren't serious, but that he was taken to the John Paul II hospital emergency room.

Clooney was driving his scooter at 8 a.m. local time Tuesday when he collided with a vehicle, which reportedly sent him crashing into its windshield and flying 20 feet in the air.

Initial reports say his scooter collided with a vehicle.

Despite the potential severity of the accident, after receiving an MRI Clooney was discharged from the hospital at 10 a.m.

A local police officer confirmed to CNN he spoke to Clooney after the accident and the actor said he was "fine". A photo of a Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon with a smashed windshield and a nearby scooter would seem to suggest that Clooney hit the windshield in the impact. Clooney will star in and co-direct the limited series, which began filming in May.

The north-east coast of Sardinia is popular with the rich and famous, although Clooney is on location on the island to film a new mini-series, Catch 22. Clooney was reported treated at Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen, at the time of the incident.
