Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology food scientist Gary Kennedy said the recall was a necessary but cautious exercise because risk of illness was only present if frozen vegetables with listeria were consumed uncooked by a vulnerable section of the population.
But the patient's death earlier this year means authorities will never know if they ate the suspect vegies.
Listeriosis is a rare infection caused by the bacteria listeria.
People more commonly at risk or listeria contamination are the elderly, those with weak immune systems, pregnant women and their unborn babies.
The products include snap frozen vegetable mixes, corn kernels, quick-steam carrot, broccoli and cauliflower mixes, and pea, carrot and sweet corn mixes.
Woolworths has withdrawn a Frozen Savoury Rice Mix following a worldwide product recall issued by the Hungarian food safety agency.
While properly cooked frozen vegetables are safe to eat, if uncooked or undercooked they can pose a serious listeria threat.
He also urged anyone who has purchased the potentially contaminated products to discard them immediately and seek medical attention should any symptoms arise, adding: "Our industry's number one priority is the safety of consumers".
Listeria can cause a life threatening infection, with symptoms similar to the flu including a high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.
Below are the products being recalled and if in doubt, chuck 'em out.
"The same strains of L. monocytogenes have been detected in frozen vegetables produced by the same Hungarian company in 2016, 2017 and 2018".
Woolworths said no other frozen sweetcorn or vegetable products were affected.
"This suggests that the strains have persisted in the processing plant despite the cleaning and disinfection procedures that were carried out", according to the EFSA.
