Towns' acceptance was delivered to the Timberwolves Saturday night.

None of the team's on Butler's list of preferred destinations would have a serious shot at taking down the Warriors, or even making an Eastern Conference playoff run.

Minnesota's first practice of training camp comes Tuesday, and Taylor reportedly wants a deal done by then. Taylor's plan would be to sift through the offers, and bring the offers most appealing for Minnesota back to Butler and his agent, Bernie Lee. In fact, ESPN's Zach Lowe reported that some within the Wolves organization wanted to deal Butler before Monday to avoid a potential "circus".

Whatever the case may be, it's evident the front office is playing the waiting game with Butler. As Layden was rebuffing trade calls on Thursday and Friday, Taylor found himself surrounded with owners and team executives at the NBA's Board of Governors meeting in NY.

While the Heat have been "aggressive" in pursuing a Butler trade, per Wojnarowski, the Herald reports there had been no known contact between Miami and Butler's camp as of Sunday afternoon.

"The Lakers can't trade any of their recently signed free agents until winter, meaning they'd have to trade most of their young guys - including both Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball - to get him now". "That was made clear". But they also won't lack for incoming offers, so it's just a matter of getting a suitable return that doesn't invite talk they got fleeced.

Per the tweet, it seems the Wolves are looking to move Butler as soon as a viable deal is sent their way.

As much as Thibodeau might like Butler - Thibodeau coached Butler for four seasons with the Chicago Bulls and acquired him in June 2017 - Butler has no interest in being in Minnesota and Towns does.

The status of Minnesota's leading scorer a year ago, however, remains most uncertain.

The four-time National Basketball Association all-defensive team member can legitimately guard three-to-four positions on the floor. But owner Glen Taylor, who has been involved in major personnel decisions in the past? The Wolves depended largely on Butler to bail them out in crunch time situations, a problem that persisted before he joined that team and whenever he sat out due to injuries.

Everyone knows what Butler can do on the court.
