Sanchez to start for Man United - Mourinho

"I think the team as a team is resolving the defensive problems better than before", said Mourinho. I think the team is more compact, more solid, the spirit, the cooperation, the empathy, the communication - all of that improves in the team and good results bring confidence and I think we are improving as a team.

But having issued a gloomy prediction for the season following a frustrating transfer window, Mourinho claimed that United's recent revival after successive defeats to Brighton and Tottenham has done nothing to change his mind.

"And they can say, "Oh, Manchester United, good team, good squad, City good squad, good team".

The reintroduction of Marouane Fellaini led to a comfortable 2-0 win at Burnley, followed by a 2-1 victory at Watford (who had won their first four matches in the Premier League) and the Red Devils comfortably dispatched of the Young Boys of Bern on Wednesday night, with a cosy 3-0 win.

"A team that yesterday looked very bad, today looks very good and yesterday looked very good, today looks very bad". We are going to play better than we did but I think it's going to be a very hard season.

There have been three or more goals in five of United's six games to date in all competitions this season but I'm not convinced we're going to witness a free-scoring affair here. Football is a little bit like this.

Asked if Martial had put any pressure on Sanchez, Mourinho said on Friday:;Sanchez plays tomorrow.

And a lot of the admiration for that has to go to the manager, for getting the mentality right, and to the players for accepting that it can't always be the manager's fault, it's easy to hide behind other people and, with someone as big as Mourinho, players can try to hide behind him, let him take the flak, so it's good that they chose to step up.

'Every player has another level to step up, ' said the manager. "He plays Tuesday again", Mourinho was quoted as saying by the Mirror.

Games against Wolves, West Ham and Newcastle offer a chance to close the gap on early leaders Liverpool and Chelsea but Mourinho has warned his players not to take their good form for granted. Not just for us, also for the others'.

"So, they got this season, the Portuguese national team goalkeeper [Rui Patricio], they got [Joao] Moutinho, who is one of the players of the 100 caps club".
