"Tomorrow, we're releasing a substantial update to Black Ops 4 with a host of improvements, fixes, and additions across all modes, including new stability for Zombies". The game also set new franchise records for most combined players, average hours per player and total number of hours played on current generation consoles. The combined number of players during those three days also surpassed both Call of Duty: WWII and Call of Duty: Black Ops III for the same period of time. "Featuring gritty, grounded, fluid Multiplayer combat, the biggest Zombies offering ever with three full undead adventures at launch, and Blackout, where the universe of Black Ops comes to life in one massive battle royale experience featuring the largest map in Call of Duty history, signature Black Ops combat, characters, locations and weapons from the entire Black Ops series".
The publisher also noted that the total number of players rose compared to past year, though it didn't provide any specific numbers. Sell-through figures include Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII retail and digital unit sales, as well as Season Pass sales.
With Black Ops 4 jumping into the red-hot Battle Royale genre, investors were expecting an increase over the previous entry's sales, but instead they got a slight decrease. Reported earlier today, one player has captured a video of a Black Ops 4 hacker using an aimbot to eliminate his opponent. It will also release on PC and Xbox One.
"Black Ops is back! There's much more to come, we're just getting started".
