Microsoft Introduces Refreshed Surface Lineup, With Black Editions

Microsoft Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 2 Leak Tips Specifications and Price Ahead of Launch

Microsoft Surface Pro 6 details leaked in an un-boxing video

The new Surface Pro 6 - Microsoft apparently opted to go back to numbered names for its Surface line - has notable upgrades from last year's Surface Pro. In comparison, Surface Laptop had just 4GB of RAM. Sure, it seems like every electronics company on the planet is producing headphones these days, but I didn't exactly associate Microsoft with great audio products, so I was a little skeptical about what its new Surface Headphones would bring to the table, particularly since they cost the same price ($350) as top noise-canceling headphones from Bose and Sony - companies that have been in the headphone game for a while.

As mentioned earlier, Microsoft is holding an event on October 2nd in NY. Even the design of the Surface Pro 6 is going to resemble last year's model. Again from The Verge, "This year's refresh appears to be nearly entirely a spec update". Just like the Surface Pro 6, the Surface Laptop doesn't come with an USB-C port, which is a bit disappointing. Panay suggested it's 85 percent faster than the original Surface Laptop, and said it offers 14.5 hours of video playback. "It does claim that typing on this version will be quieter, though". Right now at Microsoft, the only Surface Laptop models you can order are the Core i5-equipped machines with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for $1,299. The display, powered by 13.5 million pixels, is nearly 40 percent brighter, however, with more contrast. We don't have the full range of specs and pricing yet, but Nate is at the event today and will be doing a hands-on soon and will hopefully be able to get some more information. You also get a 2 terabyte solid state drive. Both the Surface Pro 6 and the Surface Laptop 2 will be pre-installed in the consumer versions of Windows 10 in S-mode.

The Wireless Headphones feature Cortana integration, courtesy of 4 beam-forming microphones. You can charge them via USB-C and while they're US -only for now they'll ship later this year, Microsoft says. However, one shouldn't expect dramatic changes when it comes to specifications.

The Surface Headphones are Microsoft's first premium and smart headphones.
