The 5 cameras on LG's V40 ThinQ are fun, but not ideal

LG V40 ThinQ With Five Cameras 6.4-Inch OLED Display Launched Price Specifications Features

LG V40 ThinQ price starts at $899.99 in the US

The remaining two are found on the front, in the notch cut-out of the 6.4-inch 3120 x 1440 OLED screen. Not just because it's launching with Android 9.0 Pie on board, but mostly because it'll get guaranteed fast Android updates for at least two years going forward. LG has also included face recognition and a rear fingerprint reader for added security.

LG has packed its camera software with features like triple-shot, which allows you to click three photos - one from each lens - on a push of a button.

"The pixel size of the main rear camera sensor has been improved by about 40 percent compared to the LG V30". Next up, it has a super wide 16 MP camera with a f/1.9 aperture and a 107 degree field of view. It packs Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor along with 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage.

The LG V40 ThinQ has many changes in its design and display than its predecessor. The front-facing camera features a 5MP wide-angle lens and 8MP standard angle. All in all, the LG V40 ThinQ is the first camera that ships with a Dial Pixel autofocus. The main highlight of this device is its cameras capabilities. Android Authority's David Imel observes that while the wide-angle camera has great clarity and color reproduction, the 2x optical zoom shooter delivers noisy and muddy results that are characteristic of digital zoom cameras. Triple Shot stitches together images captured with the three rear cameras into a short video file, and Cine Shot helps you create a cinemagraph, which is an image with animation.

It carries a 3,300 mAh battery with the QC 3.0 fast charging support. It has 3.5 mm jack with 32-bit Quad DAC support.

As you can see, we're expecting a bunch of new flagship handsets to launch this month as well as a few mid-ranged devices. The phone can cost you anything between $900 to $980, depending on your choice of carrier.

LG has gotten a little greedy with its camera set up on the LG V40. In terms of connectivity, the smartphone offers, 4G, VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and USB Type C. The smartphone comes in New Aurora Black, New Platinum Gray, New Moroccan Blue and Carmine Red colour options. It also has passed 14 MIL-STD 810G Transit Drop Test categories for suitability in military operations and is IP68 rated.

Since the two companies first announced their partnership in December 2017, Meridian Audio has already had a hand in tuning various LG soundbars and wireless speakers. Upon the pre-order of an LG V40 ThinQ, the company offers a DJI Osmo Mobile 2 gimbal and a SanDisk 256 GB microSD card for free, along with the device.
