"It's truly the Swiss Army knife of computers", says Brian Stucki of MacStadium, which manages almost 8,000 Mac mini systems in co-location data centers for a wide range of developers - from small startups to some of the most valuable companies in the Fortune 500. Priced at $499, the teeny-tiny machine became the cheapest Mac ever made.

Apple announced a new Mac Mini at an event in Brooklyn today. "People that are thinking of switching will have no more excuses", Jobs said. It's still a stripped-down Mac that offers affordable access to macOS.

The company's Tom Boger called the new computer the biggest update to the Mac Mini lineup to date. The device now comes with 4 or 6 core processors, up to 64GB of RAM, and up to 2TB of internal SSD.

It's five times faster than the previous Mac Mini, and while that computer maxed out at 16GB of RAM, the new Mac Mini goes all the way up to 64GB of RAM.

It has been four long years since Apple last updated the MacBook Air or Mac Mini.

The Mac Mini has Intel's 8th generation processors - in four- and six-core i7, i5, and i3 flavors - and 60 percent faster graphics. But, it'll upgrade you to the future of Thunderbolt 3 speeds and pure SSD storage, which should be worth the cost. It can be configured with 10GB Ethernet.

With just one HDMI port, you're going to have to either upgrade to a Thunderbolt 3 monitor or live the dongle life in order to support more than one monitor. on a desktop machine.

Looking the same as the existing model but in black, the Mac Mini is the easy way to get Mac functionality without needing a built-in desktop model, such as the iMac. It's plenty fast enough for things like image and video editing, music creation, and software development.

That aside, Apple Malaysia's official website now offers two "base" configurations of the new Mac mini (customisable). The new Mac Mini is available to preorder now and ships on November 7.
