Ariana Grande releases new song shortly before "Saturday Night Live"

Ariana Grande Reveals That Upcoming Album Will Be Titled

Ariana Grande announces new album Thank U, Next

She sings "Even nearly got married / To Pete I'm so thankful".

"I'm still a great song though", Davidson concludes, referencing Grande's song "Pete Davidson", from her last LP Sweetener.

According to reports, Ariana felt betrayed by Pete and doesn't want to take the chance that he'll talk about their breakup yesterday on "SNL" as she just sits by.

In the rest of the track she thanks her exes for a multitude of things, while also revealing she's already met someone new - herself.

Ariana Grande's new single "Thank U, Next" arrived by surprise on Saturday night - perfectly timed to the evening's episode of Saturday Night Live, which featured her ex-fiance Pete Davidson.

In a promo for this week's show Davidson poked fun at the whirlwind romance by pretending to propose to musical guest Maggie Rogers.

There's been quite a bit of speculation as to what caused Grande and Davidson to call off their engagement. She also tweeted "Thank You, Next" but at the time fans didn't realize she was about to drop a new song.

Pete addressed his breakup on SNL Saturday night, and had nothing but good things to say about his ex-fiancee.

"Don't get me wrong, I'm not insane, I know I shouldn't be making fun of how anyone looks", Pete later said before his own picture was put on the screen. Both tweets were later deleted.

Then, the comic turned serious during Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update" segment, saying, "I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world".

'Now please everybody, go vote on Tuesday'.
