Users of both platforms have reported being unable to open pages or sections on the apps, with Facebook's developer website confirming the company is now looking into the issue.

Facebook is having issues since 6:17 pm (IST).

Reports of the outage first came in at about 8pm.

(Web Desk) - Both Facebook and Instagram have been hit by major outages that left them refusing to load for some of their users across world including parts of Asia. Hours beforehand, Facebook's Messenger app crashed around the world. Many users of Facebook, as well as its sister website Instagram, have claimed that they are not able to access the websites.

"We know some people are having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps", Facebook said on its official Twitter handle around 9:00 p.m.

Messenger users in Europe were worst affected by the issue Monday afternoon, with a majority of reports coming from the UK, Ireland, Poland, Belgium, and Denmark.

Facebook's outage appears to be global. "We are investigating the issue and working on a resolution". Facebook has acknowledged the problem and is working on a fix. Central time, according to Downdetector.com, which tracks website issues and outages.
