The device comes with most of the features you'd expect from a device of its kind: it has an ambient mode, an integrated heart rate sensor, NFC and Global Positioning System capabilities and a 350mAh battery that promises to last for an entire day.
According to Fossil, it will offer a full day of battery from a single charge and an additional two days if you activate the battery saver mode. This watch has also the music service app Spotify and emergency services app. The Fossil Sport, in addition to featuring all the usual bells and whistles of a smartwatch, comes with Qualcomm's latest Wear 3100 chip which promises better efficiency and the much cleaner, redesigned Wear OS update, all for $255 (read as not $1000).
The watch will also be part of a new campaign led by model and marathoner, Candice Huffine.
The watch, which passed through the FCC in September will be available in two sizes: 41mm or 43mm, with a body made from nylon topped with silver, rose gold, gold, blue or red coloured aluminium. The smartwatch sits alongside 28 new silicone straps and will house a bigger battery (350mAh). Just where it ranks among the long list of Wear watches remains to be seen. The watch has rapid charging, so users should be able to fully recharge the gadget in under an hour.
Fossil is bringing its sport wearables up to speed with the new Sport Smartwatch powered by Wear OS by Google and a Snapdragon 3100 chip - the same chip used in the Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon and Montblanc Summit 2.
The Fossil Sport is among the first smartwatches to contain the new Snapdragon Wear 3100 chip from Qualcomm. All of them are supposed to be improved from the previous generation of watches by Fossil. The fitness-oriented Wear OS device will run the latest version of Wear OS with a revamped fitness and navigation UI.
Fossil has managed to squeeze through one more smartwatch ahead of the all important seasonal shopping bonanza.
