In TN as a whole, the film has grossed close to 18 CR which is Rajini's 2nd best opener in the state below Kabali, but Shankar's career best. That said, the figures we have received for the Hindi dubbed version of the Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer has a lot to say about how the film has been received on its opening day.
Rajinikanth, who enjoys a massive fan-base across south, has time and again created magic with most of his movies being dubbed into nearly all south Indian languages.
The Hindi version of the film took a "super start" on the opening day, trade analyst Taran Adarsh reported.
Out of the ₹74 crore, the Hindi version of 2.0 contributed about ₹21 crore, while collections from Tamil Nadu stood at ₹20 crore.
The much anticipated film 2.0 had a fabulous first day on Thursday, after receiving a tremendous response from the audience across the country.
Overseas too, the film that marks the debut of Akshay Kumar in South has also performed well overseas and has raked in almost Rs 2 crore in the US, Rs 58 lakhs in Australia and over Rs 11 lakhs in New Zealand. As for in Delhi, the most expensive tickets for 2.0 are for Rs 1,450 on opening day at 11.15 pm show at INOX, Nehru Place.
"Keeping in mind the fact that it's a dubbed film plus advance bookings opened very late, the biz is STRONG".
On day one, 2.0 collected around Rs 64 crore nett and Rs 80 crore gross in India. The movie 2.0 was released on 10,500 screens breaking the past record of Bahubali 2 9000 screen record. Directed by S Shankar, this film narrates the tale of a scientist who helps the government to fight an unknown threat.
