Denver, Seattle, Boise, Dallas, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Phoenix were some of the cities to have confirmed issues with internet, television, phone, and home security services, Scripps station KIVI reported. The company said the mysterious "network element" issue impacted service at 15 of its data centers, across both Europe and North America.

CRESA spokesman Eric Frank said the outages appeared to be affecting 911 services statewide.

CenturyLink is a global telecommunications company based in Monroe, Louisiana, serving customers in more than 60 countries and across the USA with the internet and other communications services, including phone and TV.

Law-enforcement and county officials are advising residents to have alternate emergency numbers on hand just in case.

The Federal Communication Commission announced Friday that it will investigate the nationwide CenturyLink outage, which affected 911 service in multiple spots across the county.

CenturyLink has said little about the outages, but did state that 911 calls are completing in areas where CenturyLink is the 911 provider.

Due to sporadic 911 outages in MA, public safety officials recommended individuals looking for emergency help use the 10-digit telephone number of the fire or police departments they wanted to contact.

Many EastIdahoNews.com users reported losing internet service as early as 1 a.m. Thursday.

"The CenturyLink service outage is ... completely unacceptable, and its breadth and duration are particularly troubling", said Pai in a statement.

Most 911 calls in Pierce County were functioning normally by mid-Friday morning, according to South Sound 911.

There is still no time to when full service will be restored to all CenturyLink affected customers.
