Over the weekend, attentive fans of the hit sitcom noticed that Netflix had put an expiration date on the program's detail page, which leaves them in a forlorn state.

This is good news for fans who've been enjoying the show on Netflix, and experienced a massive freakout when they saw an onscreen message proclaiming the show would only be available to stream until January 1, 2019.

Friends made its digital streaming debut when it came to Netflix on January 1, 2015. However representatives for Warner Bros.

The concern about Friends' disappearance comes at a major turning point in the streaming landscape.

"Friends" was one of Netflix's biggest acquisitions in 2014, when the streamer first announced that all 10 seasons would become available. Warner Bros. TV's parent company, the AT&T-owned WarnerMedia, is working on its own streaming service that will be available in the fourth quarter of 2019. A Change.org petition even earned more than 9,000 signatures.

As many know, the show follows three men and women who start off as best friends (while some end up dating) as they all deal with the trials and tribulations of finding a job, maintaining a relationship and more in New York City. It's helped so many people get through life, and Netflix is most likely their only source of watching it. Fans obviously lost their minds to the idea that one of their favorite shows could leave Netflix.

Many others pointed out that Friends is frequently on TBS and other channels.

The first episode of Friends originally aired in the U.S. over 20 years ago, in 1994.

"Friends" stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer as a group of twentysomething pals living in Manhattan.
