HBO drops first teaser of Season 8

Following that brief three-second glimpse of footage earlier this year, this animation shows the Houses of Westeros freezing and burning on the table at Dragonstone, clashing together in ice and fire.

There's clearly a lot to look forward to for the eighth season that arrives April 2019.

Winter is almost here!

All good? Let's point out a few things you may have noticed.

On the one hand, there is dramatic visualization of the fact that fire - presumably Daenerys' dragon fire - must fight the icy forces of the White Walkers.

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss returned to executive produce the final season alongside Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield, with Bryan Cogman, Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis and George R.R. Martin serving as co-executive producers. Meeting in the middle on the board, ice and fire finally meet.

It's exciting to see HBO begin to tease Game of Thrones again as viewers have been waiting since August of 2017 for the hit show to return. The network has not released an official premiere date yet for season eight. "They've really done a tremendous job in servicing the drama and the characters and so forth, and there are many ups and downs and twists and turns all across the "Game of Thrones" society and the world they are", he added.
