Tris Pharma, Inc says the recalled lots may contain higher concentrations of ibuprofen that could result in permanent renal or kidney damage among babies.

Tris Pharma announced the recall on Thursday involving CVS store brand, Equate brand sold at Walmart and Family Wellness brand sold at Family Dollar.

A New Jersey-based pharmaceutical company issued a recall on Wednesday for three lots of liquid ibuprofen for infants. So far no adverse events related to the recalled ibuprofen have been reported, according to Tris Pharma's recall announcement. Other possible adverse effects include tinnitus (ringing in the ears), headaches and stomach bleeding.

08/19, while the recalled lot from Family Dollar is 00717024A with an expiration date of 08/19.

The recalled product was packaged in 0.5 oz. bottles and labeled "Infants' Ibuprofen Concentrated Oral Suspension" (see product image below).

The CVS ibuprofen packages have a national drug code of 59779-925-23 and include lot number 00717024A with an expiration date of August 2019. They feature expiration dates of 02/19, 04/19 and 08/19.

However, the company didn't specify which states received the product.

"Consumers should contact their physician or health care provider if they have experienced any problems that may be related to taking or using this drug product", Tris Pharma said.
