In spite of the receiving clearance from the government, the film has been banned in 7 districts of Uttarakhand.
The decision has been taken by district magistrates concerned in view of the situation prevailing in their areas, ADG (law and order) Ashok Kumar said on Friday. Moreover the reception is better as well which means ultimately this Abhishek Kapoor directed affair could sail through.
Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat chaired a meeting on Thursday evening after a committee headed by Maharaj submitted a report and decided not to officially ban the movie, reported Outlook. Other districts of the state do not have movie theaters, . "The movie is banned everywhere in state".
The movie, set against the backdrop of the flash floods in Kedarnath, was opposed by right-wing activists who alleged that it hurt Hindu sentiments and promoted "Love Jihad".
Even though the reports for the film are mixed, no one has thrashed it per se.
The division bench, comprising Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Ramesh Chand Khulbe, also advised the petitioner to approach a high-powered committee formed by the state government under the chairmanship of tourism minister Satpal Maharaj.
