Spain's Jon Rahm shoots towards the fifteenth hole during the first round of the Hero World Challenge at the Albany Golf Club in Nassau, Bahamas, Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018.

Rahm took a two-shot lead to the back nine with a 4-hybrid to 12 feet on the par-five ninth that set up a two-putt birdie, and he held his own until Finau's double bogey. Rahm, making his first trip to the Bahamas for this event, figured out early that the key to scoring at Albany were the five par 5s and two reachable par 4s.

"I'll try and make it to the finish line", Stenson said.

Swede Stenson faded with a 71 to finish six shots back in fourth place in the elite 18-man field.

"That Sunday with Tiger is still the most emotional, most important moment of my golf career", said Rahm, 24, who has been ranked as high as second in the world in his still young career. The last threat to his title melted away on the 14th hole, when he birdied while Finau carded a double bogey, opening up a five-shot lead for the eventual victor.

Tiger Woods appeared to be headed for an ugly finish to an ugly week on Sunday at the Hero World Challenge, where he went out in 40 to fall all the way to two over for the tournament. He hit it so well off the tee but he had no choice but to stay aggressive and attack flags, and there's no reason to stop now in his final event of the year with five players separated by just two shots.

Defending champion Rickie Fowler posted a second consecutive five-under 67 to move 10 under for the tournament.

"I would love to get into the top 20 by the end of next year, it's definitely the next goal", Smith said.

He'll be there for three days as part of his preparations as the USA Presidents Cup Team Captain ahead of the staging of the biennial event last next year.

He added, "Also, the Sunday of the PGA my grandpa had just passed as soon as I finished".

Rahm, who has played a heavy late-year schedule since helping Europe to victory at the Ryder Cup in September, said his game had been dialed in. I've kept saying it the same way. He dropped to one knee to pop the ball back to the grass, came up just short of the green, chipped weakly and made double bogey for a 69. Finally, I started to get my energy back and started to feel a little bit better. "I said, 'Hey, Tiger can you please teach me how to putt on Bermuda?'"

Tournament host Woods finished second-last, a distant 19 strokes behind Rahm. That was just too much for my body to handle and I was not physically prepared for it.
