The new 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 is a tech-heavy, style-centric sedan with a more potent turbo-4 and the automaker's latest infotainment system. If you've looked at the big CLS, you've pretty much seen the CLA.
The wheelbase is now longer by 30mm while the track is wider too - 63mm more up front and 55mm more at the rear.
The range engine range has not been disclosed by Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupe, but discloses it will include most of the engines from A-Class. Adaptive dampers are optional, as are 19-inch wheels.
The designers have dispensed with a cowl above the cockpit.
The widescreen display is completely free-standing.
But perhaps its most important feature is intelligent voice control. The Long Wheelbase E-Class sedan continued its sales success across markets and continued to remain the single highest selling model for the brand in January-December 2018 period.
There's a new version of the MBUX - the Mercedes-Benz User Experience - set-up as the A-Class, incorporating the "Hey Mercedes" voice-controlled assistant, but additional local content has been added in, making the auto more relevant in a local context. The MBUX system connects to the internet via a built-in cellular connection (data sold separately) to offer search-related answers to questions like "Hey Mercedes: Who won the college football national championship last night?" or "Hey Mercedes: Are there any Indian restaurants near me?" "By recognising gestures it facilitates natural operation", says Mercedes' Ola Källenius.
"The new edition of the CLA has been developed further in an intelligent way and is even more emotional and sportier than its predecessor". We are excited that we introduced new products and technologies in the market. First released in the new A-Class, it replaces the previous COMAND system and comes with a variety of wireless connectivity features, and touchscreen / hand gesture functions.
The display vehicle in Las Vegas is a CLA 250 variant, which is equipped with a M260 2.0 litre turbo four-cylinder petrol engine making 224 hp at 5,500 rpm and 350 Nm between 1,800 to 4,000 rpm.
From launch the new CLA will be fitted with the 250 petrol - a four-cylinder unit developing 223bhp and 350Nm of torque - that will be paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with a series of petrol and diesel units to be announced closer to the model's release in May.
