The film made about Rs 150.50 crore by the end of its first week, along with a 50% jump in collections on its second Saturday, according to trade website Box Office India, an impressive rise considering most of the first week was a holiday period. The movie continued to earn in double digits in its second weekend by collecting a whopping Rs 39.83 crore. The film is expected to collect bigger number today. The film also adds another feather in Rohit Shetty's cap as it is his eighth consecutive release to cross over Rs 100-crore milestone. Will emerge Ranveer's second highest grosser today, surpassing Bajirao Mastani. Adarsh said the movie was nearing the $10 million mark in global markets, having already made $9.884 million (Rs 68.76 crore) at last count. Total: "Rs 173.15 crore (India business)", Taran Adarsh tweeted.
It's time to party for the Simmba team as the film is nearing the Rs 200 crore mark at the box office. The collections in Mumbai now stand at Rs 64 crore while Delhi is at Rs 36 crore.
Speaking to IANS about the kind of response Simmba has been receiving, Ranveer Singh said: "I had never done this kind of out and out masala entertainer - a kind of movie I had always wanted to do". With 27 crores, Simmba stands with highest first Tuesday earnings of the year.
Unlike several other big ticket films of 2018 that failed to make much of a splash in the box office despite wielding star power, Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan's Simmba has had a roaring premiere.
