Denver's current set of personnel would represent one of the more talented units Flacco has played with (especially given the Broncos' resurgent running game and very talented backfield), though depending on the health of Denver's offensive line, he may see a bit of a decline in protection.

Well all of that talk from the team's front office seems to be false now as the Broncos have reportedly acquired quarterback Joe Flacco from the Baltimore Ravens via trade according to ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

Flacco led the Ravens to the Super Bowl in 2013 and was the Super Bowl XLVII MVP. Through that stretch of the postseason, Flacco was nothing short of deadly on his deep passes, as he completed 15 of 31 attempts for 522 yards and a passer rating of 134.1 - marks that he's failed to replicate since, postseason or otherwise. With the Broncos picking up Flacco, former Broncos running back and Hall of Famer Terrell Davis is speaking out in favor of the move. The Broncos have an extra fourth-round pick from the Demaryius Thomas trade.

Case Keenum - the Broncos' starter in 2018 - and Kevin Hogan both remain on the Broncos' roster. Last season started well for Flacco, with three single-game grades of 83.0 or greater during Weeks 1 to 4.

Teams can not comment on any trade deals or terms until the start of the new NFL league year on March 13. He is to be paid $18.5 million next season, $20.25 million in 2020 and $24.25 million in 2021.

Per, Flacco has a $26.5 million cap obligation for the 2019 season, and a $16 million cap hit were he to be released. The Broncos will carry $10 million in dead money if they cut him. The Broncos hold a top-10 pick.

You have to wonder how many phone calls the Ravens made around the league regarding Flacco in order to come up with this immediate decision. Flacco turned 34 last month and lost his starting job after an injury this past season, and despite Elway's continued resistance to saying he is rebuilding, the Broncos eventually have to have a plan that goes beyond the upcoming season at their most important position.
