Following rumours regarding its existence, Respawn has confirmed that it is launching a free-to-play battle royale game called Apex Legends.

Unlike Apex Legends, it will not be a free-to-play title, and it will feature a "new twist" Titanfall universe.

Respawn Entertainment and EA hope to capture that type of financial magic with Apex Legends, and they're off to a good start.

We suspect that in the three hours leading up to the presentation we'll likely learn a few more key details about the game. The free to play battle royale title was revealed and released yesterday and its reception has been very positive so far. Each of the eight characters (or Legends) has their own abilities, including tracking enemies, deploying decoys and using toxic gas. Apex Legends also has seasons, and the battle passes unlock exclusive vanity items for these timed events.

Word quickly spread of both Apex Legends' release and its quality. It's a game set within the Titanfall world, which is great, because Titanfall is an unbelievable series that deserves to be supported.

Respawn has said the number of total players may increase over time.

The roster of playable heroes now sits at eight, though Respawn Entertainment is expected to add more characters over time.

I think we've demonstrated with our previous games that we care about having an ethical, transparent relationship with the consumer.

Legend Tokens are earned by leveling up in-game, and can be used to purchase Legends. Then again, Zampella could also just be referring to more direct Titanfall content coming to Apex Legends.

Gameplay consists of the familiar squad-based formula, and in Apex Legends teams have full control on where they choose to drop with the Jumpmaster system.
