Huawei Announces Faster MateBook X Pro, New MateBook 14

Powered by Intel 8th-gen processor, the Huawei MateBook 14 supports PCIe SSD storage and comes configured with Nvidia GeForce MX250 GPUs as well in addition to 2GDDR5 RAM. It has the same connectivity as the new Matebook X Pro, which includes Bluetooth 5 and OneHop. The company is also enabling a gesture screenshot function nonati to Windows - a three-finger swipe down the display.

Yet, for some reason Huawei used last year's show as a platform to launch the Matebook X Pro - a laptop. As for speeds, Huawei promises that the connection can hit as high as 30MB/s.

I got my hands on the MateBook 14 for a few minutes last week, and found it to be nearly as good as the MateBook X Pro, though lagging behind in a few ways that mostly relate to physical design.

The company claims that its Huawei Mate 14 has a 3:2 aspect ratio display with around 8.4% increased viewable area. It will occupy a middle ground between the high-end MateBook X Pro and the smaller 13-inch MateBook 13. Sadly, like previous year, only one of the X Pro's USB-C ports has Thunderbolt 3. As a new breed of smartphones, Huawei Mate X combines 5G, foldable screen, AI and an all-new mode of interfacing to provide consumers with an unprecedented user experience.

Unfortunately, the device they got to hold was a non-working prototype, so they weren't able to check out the internal specs of the phone, but they were told most of the design elements were final. The Share technology also comes with a PC screen-recording feature activated by shaking your Huawei device.

Huawei says the MateBook 14 will cost less than the MateBook X Pro, and the 14 is rated for less battery life, with an estimated 10.5 hours of Wi-Fi surfing. It's best to think of it as a slightly less fancy Matebook X Pro, and share numerous same features. You don't have to wait almost as long for the Matebook X Pro as people did a year ago, because it, alongside the Matebook 14, will arrive there in April. We will update this page with the official starting price once we have the info. If you want more power than that, then an Intel Core i7-8565U is available along with double the memory and storage as well as dedicated Nvidia MX 250 graphics.

The 3.28-pound, 0.63-inch thick MateBook 14 is heavier and slightly thicker than the 2.93-pound, 0.57-inch-thick MateBook X Pro.

You get two USB-C ports and one USB-A port.

Obviously there are some incremental differences here, like a better processor, better graphics, and so on.
