Entering into the foldable smartphone club, the new Huawei Mate X becomes a tablet in full fledge mode offering much more space than the Samsung competition. Unlike the Galaxy Fold, you can only run 2 apps side-by-side at a time on the Mate X, which isn't too bad but the Galaxy Fold's ability to run three apps at a time is going to be really useful.
Samsung unveiled its new foldable phone during a recent event, and now the company has released a video that offers a deeper look into the tech device.
We will have to wait and see for these questions to get answered when the Huawei Mate X finally ships. The Galaxy Note usually borrows cameras from the most powerful Galaxy S10 model which was released earlier in the year, and Samsung makes some additional software improvements to such hardware for the Galaxy Note series launches. We're looking at a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED Display with 3040 x 1440 resolution.
The Galaxy Fold bends like a book and sports a 4.6-inch display on the outside and a 7.3-inch tablet screen on the inside. Yu said this smartphone is also designed for the future 5G, though Huawei's presence is much stronger than that of a smartphone manufacturer. Others haven't been dragged into this tease and display act that Huawei and Samsung are playing: Oppo and Xiaomi have both shown off folding devices online, but there's no sign of them at the show.
The Huawei Mate X features a chipset from its own manufacturing company, Huawei's HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor. But more importantly, the 6.6-inch display on the front that you get when folded beats the Galaxy Fold's tiny 4.6-inch display.
While the Galaxy Note 9's bundled S-Pen doubled-up as a long-range shutter button, Samsung's next-gen stylus could replace the front-facing camera altogether, according to a patent granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). With a screen that turn into a 8 inch tablet, Mate X will be available later then Galaxy Fold, in the mid 2019 at a higher price, Dollars 2,600.
The smartphone is powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 along with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage which is upgradeable to 512GB via microSD.
Considering that the new phone is like having 2 phones in one, I guess the high price is rather expected. I'm not sure we can say the same for folding phones.
