With the NBA All-Star Game teams now selected via draft, fans of the league were interested to hear who would be taken where, so the league came through and made a decision to televise the event.

James chose Kevin Durant with the No. 1 overall pick, as he did past year in the All-Star draft, to be one of his starters. The eight players who received the most votes from fans, players and media earn the right to start the All-Star Game, and thus, are selected first.

But the real fun happened with LeBron's first pick among the reserves as he went with Anthony Davis. Denver coach Michael Malone will make his All-Star debut, coaching Team LeBron.

For the second straight year, the National Basketball Association held a draft to determine the rosters for the All-Star Game and this year the league used the third round of the draft to let the captains pick from "special roster additions" Wade and Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki.

LeBron and AD will be teammates in a few weeks in Charlotte but they won't be teammates any other time this year, of course, as that big trade between the Lakers and Pelicans never happened.

With the entire basketball world anticipating James taking old friend and championship teammate Dwyane Wade with the special selection pick, James pretended to shock the NBA at Nowitzki's expense. However, the Los Angeles Lakers forward selected Kevin Durant with the first pick in the 2019 All-Star Draft for a second straight year.

On a day that came and went without the Pelicans sending Anthony Davis to the Lakers or anywhere else by the NBA's trade deadline, LeBron James still managed to team up with the New Orleans big man. James, though, had to settle for selecting Davis in Thursday's National Basketball Association all-star draft before making a joke about "tampering". "I'm just kidding. I'm going with my buddy Dwyane Wade". After the draft, James proposed a trade of Westbrook for Simmons in order to pair Westbrook with one of his many rivals, Joel Embiid.

Following the draft, Antetokounpo traded Simmons to Team LeBron for Westbrook. When Antetokounmpo took Simmons minutes before, James used an expletive and exclaimed, "You took my guy!"

"F-- no", Westbrook replied, while Embiid said of his nemesis, "I don't know why he was mad".
