He'll also be receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom, according to President Donald Trump.
Tiger Woods' comeback will ring through the ages.
The Presidential Medal of Freedom (along with the Congressional Gold Medal) is the highest award that can be awarded to a civilian in the United States.
Woods' victory was his first major title since winning the 2008 U.S. Open, and it came 22 years after his first career win at the Masters in 1997.
Trump didn't indicate when he'll present the medal to Woods.
Woods will join Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Charles Siffords among golfers who have received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Since taking office Trump has given the award to several athletes including former professional National Football League players Roger Staubach and Alan Page and late professional baseball player George Herman "Babe" Ruth, Jr.
Mr. Trump owns a dozen golf courses in the US and frequently spends his weekends at his clubs in Florida, Virginia or New Jersey.
Trump and Woods have both spoken publicly about having played many rounds of golf together over the years and Trump praised Woods on a handful of occasions in recent years. "What a fantastic life comeback for a really great guy!"
