"I just gotta keep [working] and see how I feel every day, and you never know what's gonna happen", Embiid said according to ESPN. Whether or not Embiid will face any discipline from the league for looking at Johnson's phone is unclear. Johnson wasn't going to play on Saturday, but that doesn't mean you can have your phone with you and not be engaged in the game. Brooklyn was 11-of-26 from three for the game, the Sixers 3-of-25. It's the normal 2-2-1-1-1 format, meaning the Sixers start - and, if it goes seven games, end - the series in Philadelphia.
The Brooklyn guard trio of D'Angelo Russell, Spencer Dinwiddie and Caris LeVert continued the success they had against Philadelphia during the regular season, combining for 67 points.
The 76ers did get 13 points off the bench from Boban Marjanovic, but that wasn't enough to overcome other poor performances.
After Jimmy Butler made 1-of-2 from the line to open the second quarter for Philly, LeVert scored eight straight Brooklyn points with two 3-pointers and a drive, making for a 20-1 Brooklyn run. Butler finished one rebound short of a double-double as well. He ended the game with 22 points, 15 rebounds, five blocks and four assists on 5-for-15 shooting from the field in 24 minutes of action. He's only appeared in 10 of 23 games since then, and the 7-footer told reporters on Friday that he'd been experiencing increasing pain in his knee recently and he was not sure if he'd be able to go against the Nets on Saturday afternoon.
Game 2 will be the biggest game of the year for the 76ers - as must-win as it gets this early in the playoffs. Hopefully Johnson's daughter's health improves and for Philadelphia fans, whatever ailed the 76ers in Game 1 will improve as well.
