Less than a year after making a production out of his tough decision to stay put at Atletico Madrid, Antoine Griezmann is reversing course.
The World Cup victor signed a five-year contract last June but Saturday's La Liga match against Levante will be his last for the club.
However, a little less than a year after committing his future to Diego Simeone's side, he's made a decision to leave the club.
It has been five incredible years, thank you very much for everything, I carry you in my heart.
Griezmann now has a £108million (€125million) release clause, a fee which was decided after he penned a new five-year deal last summer.
"After speaking with Cholo (club coach Diego Simeone), then with Miguel Angel and the people in the hierarchy of the club I wanted to speak with you, the fans, who have always given me a lot of love", said Griezmann, wearing a plain black t-shirt with a simple white background behind him.
Barca look certain to be his next destination with Griezmann, 28, reportedly set on making a move he spurned past year.
"[I want] to tell you I have taken the decision to leave".
Barcelona will pay the buyout clause in Griezmann's contract of 120m euros, BBC Sport understands.
He added: "I have to leave, I want to see new places and face new challenges, it's what I need now". Since 2014, he's been at Atletico and has scored 133 goals in 252 games for the club, winning three trophies.
