But amongst all of that, Martin also says that he has "consulted on a video game out of Japan".

In this instance, players would travel by horseback between a choice of adjacent kingdoms, felling each land's leader and taking their powers in order to better their chances of beating the next challenge. However, after his answer, the author teased his fans a bit and added, "And no".

This, of course, begs the question if this is all anything to get excited about in the first place. Martin himself has only confirmed that he did some "consulting" work for a new game developed in Japan. Even then, it isn't always good to do because games can be canceled regardless of how far into production they are, looking at you Scalebound. "THE WINDS OF WINTER is very late, I know, I know, but it will be done", the 70-year-old Martin wrote in a blog post published late Monday.

The information was provided by proven insider Liam Robertson and, even then, Spawn Wave host Jonathan Downey admitted he had "a hard time believing, because it sounds a bit insane, [that] George R R Martin is a part of this project". The only details known about the game is that it's an open-world game that includes horse riding.

The game is said to be published by Bandai Namco, with a reveal at Microsoft's E3 2019 briefing planned for June.

Posting on his quaintly understated official blog, Martin's tone was gracious and grateful. He will also be serving as producer on five shows in various stages of production at HBO (some of which he says have nothing to do with Game of Thrones), two shows on Hulu, and one for the History Channel.

The post lays out what is on Martin's plate for the future now that the Game of Thrones TV show concluded on Sunday.

As said, earlier this year some rumours surfaced, suggesting that George R.R. Martin was working with the developers of Bloodborne and the Dark Souls series for a new game. If the other side of the rumor is to be believed though, we only need to wait a couple more weeks before finding out if this game really is happening.

Considering that Martin is a writer, and not a programmer or visual artist, it seems most likely that his consultation was as a scenario writer or conceptual world designer.

Everyone had their own opinion on the final episode of "Game of Thrones".
