Looks Like The Next Modern Warfare Might Be A Reboot

There's been a lot of speculation about where the next Call of Duty game will take us, with most of it squarely focused on the Modern Warfare series.

Long Sensation went on to tweet that his theory was that the game would be a prequel to Modern Warfare 2, potentially following a younger version of the character Simon "Ghost" Riley.

No doubt this will sell millions though and end up near the top of the sales charts when it releases later this year.

Activision is expected to announce a new Call of Duty game by the end of June, but it looks like some of the details might have already been leaked online.

As Schreier says, it's a freakish turn of events that the first game in the Modern Warfare series was Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, but the fourth will be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Interestingly, the Twitter account for Infinity Ward (developers on the next Call of Duty entry) has not gone dark in solidarity with Call of Duty's official accounts. Total yearly earnings forecasts are down across the board and don't reflect the launch of a mega-blockbuster Call of Duty game.

"As of very recently, that's changed". Now Treyarch, based in Santa Monica, California, is in charge of leading Call of Duty: Black Ops 5 for 2020. The reason for this choice of name is reportedly because the game will be a "soft reboot" of the Modern Warfare series.
